The BEYOND DJ training is an 8-week online course intentionally designed for beginners and aspiring Conscious Dance DJs.
Led by world-renowned DJ’s, facilitators and community leaders pioneering pathways to conscious dance floors, this journey will equip you with everything that you’ll need to be ready to guide a transformational dance experience with confidence, intuition and skill.
From the the essentials of DJ mixing, to the art of finding your unique sound, to learning cues on how to read and respond to a dynamic dance floor, this will be more than your average DJ course; it will be a journey into the heart of what it takes to create transformative dance experiences.
Who This Course is For
Ecstatic Dancers: If you're passionate about Ecstatic Dance and want to dive deeper into the practice.
Aspiring DJs: If you’ve dreamt of guiding as a DJ and want to make that dream come true.
Experienced DJs: If you're already DJing but want to transition into crafting sets for transformational dance floors.
*No prior experience is necessary. Our course is designed for everyone, providing step-by-step guidance to help you confidently play a live Ecstatic Dance set by the end of the course.

How It Works
Sessions will be held online on Zoom twice a week over the course of 8 weeks, from November 2nd to December 21st.
Skill Sessions: Tuesdays 6-8PM ET
Dedicated to the technical aspects of DJing, these sessions will provide hands-on training and live feedback from our team on your practice mixes, helping you refine your skills and grow as a DJ.
Core Sessions: Saturdays 1-3PM ET
These sessions will bring together students from both the DJ and Leadership cohorts. Focused on the culture of conscious dance, they will explore how this next wave of intentional DJs and leaders can create the most impactful dance floors upon graduation.
*Each student will be assigned to a ‘pod’ of small groups of 4-6 people to receive more intimate support in-between sessions and will have at least one private 1:1 session with a mentor.
**Students should attend at least 6 out of the 8 weekly sessions. All sessions will be recorded and can be re-watched.

ADD ON: Leadership Training
For those who also wish to take the Leadership training, these sessions will be held on Thursdays from 6-8PM ET and will provide guided training and mentorship in the art of transformational event production and inclusive facilitation.

No, the program is designed for both beginners and those with some experience. We welcome anyone with a passion for music and a desire to learn.

Basic DJ equipment such as a laptop, DJ controller, and headphones are recommended. We will provide guidance on specific equipment during the program, but you don’t need to have everything before starting.

On average, you should plan to spend 5-10 hours per week on training, including practice, live sessions, and assignments. The exact time may vary depending on your pace and goals.

The price for this 8-week training will be $2,000 but for this first cohort, we are offering a special discount of $1,650.
If you also sign up for the Leadership training, you will receive an additional $200 discount.

Yes there are payment plans available. To secure your spot in either/both trainings, a $500 deposit is required. The remainder of the payment can be made in installments to help spread the cost over the duration of the course.

We are committed to inclusivity and understand that financial constraints can be a barrier for some. That's why we offer a limited number of scholarships for participants who are deeply committed to the course but currently lack the means to afford it. If you are passionate about becoming a transformative DJ and creating powerful dance experiences, mention your need for a scholarship in the application.

Yes, the BEYOND DJ Training includes opportunities for one-on-one mentorship and personalized feedback from experienced instructors to help you grow and refine your skills.

Graduates of the BEYOND DJ Training are invited to join an exclusive online community for ongoing support, collaboration opportunities, and continued learning. You may also have opportunities to perform at Dance Beyond-affiliated events, including Ecstatic Dance NYC, The Collective BAE, Dance Lab, JunXion, and beyond.
